Asbestos Abatement - Beginning July 9, 2018 until July 17, 2018 Marengo-Union ECSD #165 has authorized Cove Remediation, LLC, of Alsip, Illinois to remove friable asbestos containing materials from within Marengo Middle School and Ulysses S Grant Intermediate School. This area will be isolated from the occupied areas of the building with wood and polyethylene barriers. Also, the work area will be clearly marked with signs indicating that asbestos abatement is taking place. Please do not enter these areas until the signs and barriers have been removed. Environmental Consulting, Ltd. environmental group will closely monitor the abatement work. Monitoring of the air in and adjacent to the work areas will be conducted during the performance of these operations. We ask for your patience and cooperation throughout the scheduled project dates while we complete these activities.

Construction on the Deerpass Road bridge will begin on May 21, 2018. Deerpass Road will be closed from May 21, 2018 through May 24, 2019, with ongoing construction to the bridge throughout the year. McHenry County has many services available to its residents. By calling the phone number 211, residents can access information about: emergency shelter, food pantries, day care, availability of rent or utility assistance, elder care, mental health services, employment services, health resources, education/vocational training, disability resources, drug/alcohol rehab, domestic abuse, disaster recovery and more. Limited translation services are available. If someone needs emergency assistance, they should call 911 or the McHenry County Crisis line at 1-800-892-8900. The 211 line is new to McHenry County and information will continue to be added.
