We Show a Positive Attitude, Are Respectful, Work for Success, and Show Respect

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to Grant Intermediate School! I am honored to be the principal at Grant and privileged to have the opportunity to lead this amazing school community comprised of such exceptional staff, students, and families!

I have been a dedicated educator for almost 30 years, and all those years have been in Marengo! I taught for 10 years at the High School, 15 years at the Middle School, and have spent the last 4 years as principal of Grant. The building where I attended high school is the very same building I now get to lead and support 4th and 5th grade students on a successful and rewarding journey. I love this town and couldn’t be prouder to support and serve our local community. I look forward to continuing to be a part of the many and varied successes of District #165!

I am excited to build relationships and work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community members, as well as provide a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment for all students to succeed and flourish. This is a special time in a child’s life, with tremendous opportunities for growth and development: emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically. We are excited to have students in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.

As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who walks through the doors—staff, students, and parents—feels welcome and supported. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas to share. Thank you, again, for sharing your children with us each day! I am truly honored to be a part of the Grant Grizzlies community!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Schermerhorn
